DataViz, makers of the popular Documents To Go application, announced sad news today for Palm fans. Though the company started out developing for Palm, they are not going to proceed in developing the Documents To Go solution for Palm WebOS. According to the folks over at Crackberry.com, Research in Motion, makers of Blackberry phones and OS, looks to have acquired DataViz, the company that made Documents To Go. Documents To Go is the application for mobile document reader and editor that is compatible with Microsoft Office Programs.

According to multiple sources, RIM made the DataViz acquisition for an estimated $50 million cash. More interesting news is that from DataViz that they didn’t announce is that ……. they were brought by RIM!! Though no company has publically announce it (yet), multiple sources have confirmed to us that RIM recently acquired DataViz for a reported $50 million cash. Jump on to LinkedIn and you can also quickly find that lots of former DataViz employees have recently switched up their profiles to Research In Motion as their current employer.

As Windows Phone 7 is just around the corner, this is certainly an interesting purchase for RIM as they will struggle to keep hold of Windows-faithful business users.Tis will be fine for the RIM to give free license of Documents To Go along with BlackBerry Enterprise deals.
